Life changing and Convicted

Philippians has been a challenging book to read because it is so life changing as well as convicting. I want to stop reading from it because I am always so convicted! My selfishness quite often slaps me in the face with how I spend MY time, MY money, etc. I want what is best for ME (aka cue the me monster). But, Philippians keeps pointing me back to where my focus should be: upward not inward. :)

{{ Thankful & Blessed }}

This is the time of year that people start remembering to be thankful (including myself). There are adorable pinteresty signs that say cute sayings about being thankful or giving thanks, but do we [I] truly take being thankful to heart? We have been given so much! The biggest gift that we have been given is salvation, life with God for eternity. How trivial are so many things in life compared to His grace and His mercy freely given to us! Thankfully, this grace covers a multitude of sins including thanklessness.  Just like the hymn writer wrote:  "Grace greater than all our sin."  He is sufficient which causes us to be thankful and blessed.

The gospel is what life is all about.

This summer has been a time for me to refocus on what is truly important in life as well as deepening my understanding of the gospel.  I feel as though I am barely scratching the surface of what my dear Savior did for me on the cross as I read through John, Luke, Mark and now Matthew.  That He would choose a sinner like me is beyond my comprehension! I have nothing desirable, and yet He chose me like it states in 1 Peter 2:9.  I am no greater than sinners whose sin is more blatantly obvious than mine just like the Pharisees.  But, since I have been chosen by God, I have the privilege of sharing with others His grace.
